Description
Located in Upham's Corner in Boston, this project is a proposed library utilizing cross-laminated timber and glued laminated timber. Utilizing the glulam, this proposal has a diamond structure for the facade, as well as utilizing an interlace beam and column structure to support the widespans of the CLT that makes up the floors and roof.
The offset of the different levels is utilized to create overings in the summer for shade as well as in the winter to protect from the elements. The exposed timber X-bracing creates a distinctive interior atmosphere that celebrates the structural system.
