Emma Nilson, Pittsburgh 2024
I am an architect based in Pittsburgh, PA. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Architecture, and I am drawn to the relationship between built form and the everyday landscapes people move through without noticing.
My time at CMU sharpened a belief that architecture should be rigorous in its thinking and generous in its outcomes. I am interested in buildings that resist nostalgia while remaining deeply rooted in place — work that takes material, light, and structure seriously.
Outside of architecture I run long distances, cook constantly, read everything I can get my hands on, and shovel a lot of Pittsburgh snow. I am currently working while exploring what comes next in practice.
